Jonathan Going (or Gowing)

A Revolutionary War Veteran with ties to Cattaraugus County.

Life:

Born 1761 in Lunenburg, MA; died August 25, 1848, in Hinsdale, NY. Buried in Maplehurst Cemetery.

Service:

Private in the Massachusetts Line under Col. John Jacob, Col. Bigelow, and Col. Drury. He enlisted multiple times between 1779 and 1781.

Note:

His son, Eliab Going, was the first Baptist minister in Hinsdale.
