Frank Morales - U.S. Army - Our Veterans, Their Stories

Francisco Morales, Master Sergeant U.S. Army 1990-2010

Francisco "Frank" Morales was raised in the 1970s in Indio, Calif. It was a poor area filled with migrant farm workers and gangs. Before he graduated high school, he enlisted as a light infantryman for the U.S. Army. He did basic training at Fort Benning, Ga., and after completion he returned to Monterey, Calif., where he was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment.

He served one tour in Bosnia and two in Afghanistan, where he received the Silver Star.

He retired from the military as a master sergeant and is currently running the Veteran Service Program on the Saint Bonaventure campus.
